MISSION — Mission crews have tackled a house fire that sent a construction worker to hospital last night.

More than 25 firefighters responded to the report of a burning three-storey home on Cherry Avenue, west of Stave Lake Street on July 9, at around 6 p.m.

Assistant Chief Nick Rychkun with the Mission Fire Rescue Service said heavy flames that were coming from behind the building “had extended into the roof and interior main floors”.

Mission RCMP say three workers had been renovating a deck at the property when a large container of vinyl adhesive caught fire. One worker then came into contact with the burning material, causing him to fall from the deck onto the concrete ground.
