Lower Mainland kayakers require rescue after capsizing Sunday
NORTH VANCOUVER — Mounties in North Vancouver say RCMP members and North Vancouver search and rescue personnel were activated Sunday (Oct. 20) after receiving a call about kayakers who had capsized on the Seymour River.
According to a brief social media post from police, North Vancouver RCMP says authorities responded to a call for assistance on the Seymour River. RCMP and a SAR boat, in addition to frontline RCMP members using a remotely piloted aircraft system, or drone, were able to successfully rescue the individuals.
Police issued a gently worded reminder urging people to avoid waterways during unpredictable weather.
“Given the extreme and unpredictable conditions on our waterways, we urge the public to stay clear for their own safety,” North Vancouver RCMP said.
