VICTORIA – Environment Canada says a second wave of rain will hit the Lower Mainland on Sunday after heavy downpours on Saturday caused flash floods and water pooling on roads in many areas.

The weather agency says between 15 mm and 40 mm of rain is expected between Vancouver and the eastern Fraser Valley region, as far as Agassiz.

“Rainfall, heavy at times, will continue through this afternoon,” Environment Canada said in an update early Sunday morning.

“Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.” Storm warnings also cover Howe Sound and sections of the Sea-to-Sky Highway south of Whistler.
