CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack RCMP Corporal Carmen Kiener has confirmed in a statement that the 43-year-old man who was reported missing on Monday, October 14, has sadly been located deceased.

According to a brief statement released Thursday morning (Oct. 17) at 6:26 a.m., police say the cause of his death is not considered suspicious.

Cpl. Kiener said in a statement. “The RCMP offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”

Welch had been traveling from the Chilliwack area Sunday, Oct. 13 and was heading through Boston Bar on the way to his friend’s ranch near Clinton, B.C., but never made it to his destination that night.

According to the text of an online GoFundMe started by Natalie Rodrigues, William Joseph Welch was a dedicated father of two wonderful boys, 18-year-old Jaden and 16-year-old Logan. Rodrigues wrote in her GoFundMe that Welch was fatally killed in a motor vehicle accident over the Thanksgiving weekend.

“His loss leaves a profound void in the lives of his children and all of us who knew him,” Rodrigues said. “Will was a loving father who devoted his life to providing for and mentoring his boys. He always put his family first, and his absence will be felt deeply. As the family navigates this unimaginable loss, we want to ensure that Logan and Jaden have the support they need during this difficult time.”
