Chilliwack Fire, B.C. Ambulance respond to workplace fall at Chilliwack construction site
CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Fire Department crews and B.C. Ambulance paramedics were dispatched Wednesday around noon after a tradesman fell from scaffolding at a construction site at Promontory Road and Thomas Road in Chilliwack.
According to scanner traffic, first responders were called to Andmar, a residential and commercial development under construction, at 12:03 p.m. after a male fell from a slab and onto concrete below. The exact site of the accident is 46183 Thomas Road, not far from G.W. Graham Secondary. Firefighters were originally advised that a 28-year-old man had fallen 10 feet from scaffolding.
A source told Fraser Valley Today the male fell approximately 14-16 feet off the ground and suffered injuries and head trauma, but the victim is reportedly conscious and awake as of 12:50 p.m.
“They are all very relieved he’s alert now,” the source said.
