Tracking device on stolen Sea-Doo leads to recovery of stolen watercraft in Pitt Meadows

MISSION – Police are crediting a tracking device on a personal watercraft for aiding seizures of stolen property in Pitt Meadows.

RCMP say five stolen watercraft, including some Sea-Doo-branded vehicles and trailers, were recovered during a recent property search near the Golden Ears Bridge.

In a release, investigators say the theft of three stolen watercraft over the last month sparked the probe that disrupted a crime group’s efforts targeting Sea-Doo-style vehicles in several Lower Mainland cities.

“On September 20, a resident of Silverdale Avenue in Mission reported to police that someone had cut through a fence on her property and stolen her yellow Sea-Doo and trailer,” a Mission RCMP spokesperson said.

“Then around 5 am on October 3, thieves entered onto a property near Deroche, and stole two more Sea-Doos on a trailer.”

RCMP say the craft stolen from Silverdale was not one of the vehicles recovered during the seizure.

Detectives have ascertained that the watercraft had previously been taken from properties in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Richmond, and Langley.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with more information about these thefts is asked to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
