Mission axe attack sends one to hospital

MISSION — A 32-year-old man is recovering from serious injuries after being assaulted with axes outside a homeless shelter on Logan Avenue in Mission on the evening of August 1.

The incident occurred following an argument between the victim and another man. According to Mission RCMP, the confrontation escalated when the victim was approached by two men and a woman, all of whom were known to him.

During the altercation, the woman allegedly swung an axe at the victim, striking him in the arm. A second man then threw another axe at the victim. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack.

The man sustained a significant injury to his arm and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Mission RCMP launched an investigation and quickly identified the suspects. One of the offenders was arrested on the night of the attack, while the female suspect was taken into custody the following day.
