Abbotsford Airshow returns Friday to the Fraser Valley
ABBOTSFORD — The skies over Abbotsford will once again be filled with the roar of jets and the dazzling spectacle of aerial acrobatics as the 2024 Abbotsford International Airshow takes flight on August 9, 10, and 11. This year’s event promises an impressive lineup of performers, featuring some of the world’s premier aviation teams.
Among the highlights is the US Air Force Raptor Demonstration Team, showcasing the F-22 Raptor, the USAF’s leading fifth generation fighter aircraft. The Raptor, known for its combination of stealth, speed, maneuverability, and integrated avionics, performs both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. Its dual engines provide more thrust than any other current fighter engine, allowing it to cruise at supersonic speeds without afterburner, a feature known as supercruise. The advanced aircraft is designed to outmaneuver all current and projected fighters worldwide.
Canada’s own elite team, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, will also take to the skies. Officially known as the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, the Snowbirds have been a symbol of Canadian aviation excellence since 1971. The group of highly skilled pilots and their dedicated support team represent the professionalism and teamwork of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). Their performances have inspired audiences across North America with their precision and discipline.
Adding to the excitement, the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team and the massive USAF C-17 Globemaster III will deliver thrilling displays of aerial prowess.
