Star Nation Canoe Club to hold fundraiser Friday at Hofstede’s as they represent Canada at world championships
CHILLIWACK — Star Nation Canoe Club, a Chilliwack-area club that began in 2018 with five people who wanted to create a safe space for women to train, compete and grow together in the traditional sport of war canoe racing, will hold a fundraiser Friday, July 26 as they seek to represent Canada at an elite competition in Hawaii next month.
The club, of which Chilliwack resident and Chilliwack-Cultus Lake MLA candidate A’a’liya Warbus is a member, is fundraising to travel to Hilo, Hawaii to represent Canada at the 2024 International Va’a Federation World Sprints Championships from August 13-24.
In an effort to support the team, the paddlers will hold an Indian taco sale at Hofstede’s Country Barn in Chilliwack, located at 45796 Luckakuck Way, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu consists of Indian tacos with pop or water for $10, a fit bowl with rice instead of bannock for $10, and a single piece of bannock for $4.
