Rainfall warning continues Monday for Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Hope

CHILLIWACK — Environment Canada has extended a rainfall warning for the Fraser Valley from Abbotsford to Hope into Monday (Jun 3).
Canada’s national weather agency says a disturbance continues to cross through the South Coast this morning. The disturbance is expected to deliver heavy rains to the regions. The rain is expected to ease off to showers by the afternoon.
It warns that heavy downpours could lead to flash flooding as smaller creeks and already swollen rivers jump their banks in flood-prone areas. Drivers should also be wary of water pooling on roadways.
Environment Canada measured over 20 mm of rainfall in Chilliwack and Abbotsford Sunday. It says another 20 mm of rain could fall today.
