Chilliwack-area coffee company discontinues operations

CHILLIWACK — When Chilliwack residents visit places like Peach Park and Vedder Park, it’s nice to see mobile coffee trailers that offer a variety of caffeinated drinks and snacks for people who might be taking their kids to the playground or strolling along the nearby Vedder Rotary Loop Trail.

A similar setup popped up in Yarrow when Yarrow Coffee Co. opened near Eckert Road and Yarrow Central Road, offering the Yarrow community a convenient location to purchase drinks and local goods in a small-town venue, without having to cross the Vedder Bridge to hit Starbucks on Vedder Road at Keith Wilson Road.

Around Chilliwack, a popular Chilliwack site that promotes businesses throughout Chilliwack, posted on Instagram April 24 that Yarrow Coffee Co., Chilliwack’s newest coffee truck, had opened.

However, Fraser Valley Today has learned that Yarrow Coffee Co. has discontinued its operations. The mom-and-pop outfit announced two weeks ago on May 14 that it has decided to sell its coffee trailer and discontinue operations.

“We are deeply saddened to inform you that we have made the hard decision to sell our Coffee Trailer and close Yarrow Coffee Co.,” Yarrow Coffee Co. wrote on Facebook. “The logistics of managing other jobs, family responsibilities and giving the full time commitment the community deserves have proven to be too much.”

The company applauded the Yarrow community for stepping up to support them.

“Thank you so much for all your support. The community in Yarrow is like no other and we are truly grateful for the love you’ve shown us,” the company said.

In addition to closing down, the company has put its coffee trailer up for sale as well.
