Cool weather could lead to more snow along highways connecting the Fraser Valley to the Interior
CHILLIWACK — Environment Canada’s Special Weather Statement warning of snowy weather for the Coquihalla Highway and Okanagan Connector has been extended to Sunday.
Environment Canada says a cold and unstable airmass is continuing to reside over British Columbia’s interior, producing precipitation in the form of rain in low-lying areas and snow at higher levels.
The statement warns travellers along the Coquihalla from Hope to Kamloops and the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna, could see more than 5 cm of snow on the roadway.
It says motorists should expect snow to be present at passes along the two popular highways and says travellers need to be prepared, as weather conditions can quickly change along mountain passes.
