Need to cool off? City of Chilliwack opens temporary cooling centres in reponse to heat wave

CHILLIWACK — To help residents find relief from the extreme heat, the City of Chilliwack has opened two cooling centres — Evergreen Hall, and Sardis Sport Complex.
- Evergreen Hall is located at 9291 Corbould Street (Slesse Room). The centre will be open Monday, July 25 to Friday, July 28 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
- Sardis Sports Complex is located at 5725 Tyson Road. The centre will be open Monday, July 25 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.; and Tuesday, July 26 – Friday, July 28 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
An outdoor misting station is also available at the Tourism Chilliwack’s welcome centre (44150 Luckakuck Way).
Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a heat warning from July 25 – 30, as temperatures are expected to reach up to 35 degrees.
