CHILLIWACK — The avalanche risk remains high in several popular backcountry regions in B.C.
The Avalanche Canada map shows the danger is ranked at level four out of five throughout the south coast, including areas around Whistler and Pemberton, as well as the north coast around Terrace and mountain ranges on Vancouver Island.
The danger is also high in southeastern B.C. and along the boundary with Alberta, where a special avalanche warning is in effect for national parks in the Rockies.
The bulletin says persistent weak layers are easily triggered in Yoho and Kootenay national parks in B.C., as well as Banff.
