Maple Ridge RCMP receive multiple reports of counterfeit money circulating locally
MAPLE RIDGE – Police in Maple Ridge are warning the public about a recent uptick in reported counterfeit cash circulating in the community.
In a statement, police say they’ve received at least eight separate reports of $50 or $100 bills being used at various local businesses.
On the upside, police say most of the businesses that have been targeted have spotted the fraudulent money and reported it to police. In some cases, however, they have been left high and dry and on the hook for a loss of income.
