High-risk sex offender banned from downtown Chilliwack park has been re-arrested
VANCOUVER — A 24-year-old high-risk sex offender who was the subject of a public warning from the Vancouver Police Department last week, and banned from visiting a downtown Chilliwack park next to the library, has been re-arrested by Vancouver authorities.
The Vancouver PD announced Monday (Mar. 4) they have re-arrested Skylar Wayne Pelletier on a Canada-wide warrant. Pelletier was located in downtown Vancouver on Thursday, Feb. 29 and remains in custody pending review by the Parole Board of Canada. The warrant was issued for protection of society under section 135(1) of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act.
Vancouver PD issued a warning on Monday, Feb. 26 that Pelletier posed a strong risk to women in the community, and was banned from coming to a park in downtown Chilliwack. Pelletier, 24, is currently serving a five-year long-term supervision order for convictions of sexual assault, assault and break and enter.
Pelletier is described by police as 6’2″ with a heavy build. He has short black hair and brown eyes. While living in Vancouver, Pelletier has been ordered to comply with the following release conditions:
