Late goal gives Chilliwack win over Cowichan Valley
CHILLIWACK — Willyam Gendron’s second goal of the game with 5:38 remaining in the third period gave the Chilliwack Chiefs a 5 – 4 victory over the Cowichan Valley Capitals Friday in Chilliwack. The winning goal came with the Chiefs on a power play.
Oliver Beaulieu, Nathan Morin and Matt Argentina also scored goals for the Chiefs. Vladimir Nikitin relieved Frank Murphy for the third period and was perfect in goal, stopping all 9 shots fired by the Capitals. The Chiefs outshot the Capitals 32 – 31 overall.
The win leaves the Chiefs alone in second place in the BCHL Coastal Division, four points ahead of third place Alberni Valley, who were beaten 6 – 3 in Surrey Friday.
Chilliwack will play host to Alberni Valley Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
