Motorist flees from Mission RCMP, but crashes and rolls her vehicle
MISSION — Mounties in Mission say a woman who was found to be a prohibited driver allegedly fled from police, crashed her car and wound up rolling her car down an embankment earlier this month.
According to a news release from the Mission RCMP detachment, police say an officer on patrol Tuesday evening, February 6 witnessed a brown Oldsmobile driving along Logan Avenue. Police ran a search of the license plate and discovered that the owner of the car was a prohibited driver. An RCMP constable attempted to pull over the vehicle to confirm whether the person driving had a valid license. The driver initially stopped for police but sped off, driving through a red light at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Park Street.
Later that evening, that same Oldsmobile vehicle was located near North Railway Avenue and James Street. The driver had lost control, veered off the roadway, and rolled multiple times down a small embankment. Fortunately, she was not injured.
The driver was arrested for driving while prohibited, and she was issued tickets for failing to stop for police, and for driving through a red light, police said.
