Prison guards intercept $100K+ stash of contraband at Fraser Valley prison
ABBOTSFORD — Correctional staff at a medium-security federal prison in Abbotsford are being credited for their role in discovering contraband and other items exceeding $100,000 in value.
According to a news release from Correctional Service Canada dated Monday, February 12, contraband and unauthorized items were seized at Matsqui Institution, a medium security federal institution, on January 19 due to the direct efforts of staff members.
The contraband and unauthorized items seized included 205 grams of methamphetamines as well as one cell phone and accessories. The total estimated institutional value of these seizures is $105,700, CSC estimated.
Police have been notified.
