Local Girl Guides get a glimpse into what happens behind the scenes at Abbotsford Hospital
ABBOTSFORD — Potential opportunities abound in the health care industry for today’s youth and students who might be interested one day in a clinical career.
Perhaps that’s the thinking behind a recent visit by a Fraser Valley Girl Guides group that set foot inside Abbotsford Regional Hospital with the help of the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation.
In a news release, the foundation says it is offering youth a unique way to be inspired with in-person learning tours at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. The foundation, together with hospital staff, has several activities that can be carried out during the tour depending on what the request is for learning. The healthcare field is vast and learning tours at Abbotsford Regional Hospital hospital site provide youth with exposure to a first-of-its-kind program for experiential learning.
“Youth are the hope of our future, and if we can help coming generations understand the diversity of healthcare then we are making a positive impact in helping them explore the model of care,” said FVHCF executive director Liz Harris.
