MISSION — Mounties in Mission are expressing thanks to an alert witness whose actions may have prevented a deadly accident by a reckless, irresponsible motorist east of Mission last month.

Mission RCMP say the erratic movements of a vehicle resembling a Honda passenger sedan captured the attention of a fellow motorist on Thursday, January 25 along Sylvester Road in Hatzic, east of Mission. Police say the witness contacted police, who were able to locate the male driver, at which point the motorist failed tests on two roadside screening devices. The driver received a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound.

“Some impaired drivers are hard to spot, however others are much more obvious,” said Corporal Harrison Mohr of Mission RCMP. “If you see a vehicle being driven dangerously, don’t hesitate, call 911. You may save someone’s life.”

For obvious reasons, Mission RCMP expressed gratitude to the unidentified witness who reported this particular driver, as well as the other witnesses that report possible impaired drivers everyday.
