Chilliwack Chiefs extend winning streak at Victoria’s expense

CHILLIWACK — Mateo Mrsic’s powerplay goal at 4:01 of the third period snapped a 3 – 3 tie and lifted the Chilliwack Chiefs to a 5 – 3 win over the visiting Victoria Grizzlies Saturday (Feb. 3) in Chilliwack. Mrsic also had two assists on the night as the Chiefs won their fifth straight game.

Brady Milburn had two goals and one assist, including an empty netter to seal the win for Chilliwack while Caleb Elfering and Savin Kirk added singles.

Special teams played a big role in the game. The Chiefs scored three powerplay goals on four opportunities. But they also gave up two powerplay goals and a short-handed goal to Victoria.

Austin McNicholas stopped 27 of 30 shots for the Chiefs. Chilliwack recorded 26 shots in the game.
