VICTORIA — The B-C government has expanded its secondary suite incentive program to 16 more regional districts in the province.

The three-year pilot program will launch in April with the hope of putting as many as one thousand more affordable rental units on the market.

The latest districts span much of rural B.C., including the Fraser Valley, Alberni-Clayoquot, Sunshine Coast, North Okanagan and Peace River regions.

The program is expected to provide as many as three thousand homeowners with forgivable loans of up to $40 thousand as long as their new suites are offered at rents below market rates for at least five years.
