City of Chilliwack to add rectangular rapid flashing beacons at 5 intersection crosswalks

CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack says it will install rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) at five intersection crosswalks on the north side of the city this spring.

The city wrote in a brief news release Wednesday (Jan. 24) that five intersection crosswalks will be enhanced with these flashing beacons for “heightened pedestrian crossing visibility and safety due to higher traffic volumes and visibility requirements.”

RRFBs will be installed at the following locations:

  • First Avenue at Nowell Street
  • Yale Road at Hazel Street
  • Yale Road at Kipp Avenue
  • Young Road at Lewis Avenue
  • Young Road at Reece Avenue
