IHIT deployed to Abbotsford for reported shooting in mall parking lot: AbbyPD
ABBOTSFORD — A 25-year-old man has died Saturday night (Jan. 20) after being shot and killed at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre on South Fraser Way in Abbotsford.
According to a news release from Constable Art Stele, Abbotsford Police Department patrol officers were dispatched at 5:51 p.m. Satuday to a parking lot within the 32900 block of South Fraser Way, Abbotsford, for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 25-year-old male with serious and life-threatening injuries consistent with gunshot wounds, Cst. Stele said. First aid was immediately provided, however, the victim succumbed to the injuries.
The investigation is in the preliminary stages, with early indications suggesting this incident is targeted. AbbyPD has notified the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), which has since been deployed.
The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit will be transitioning this investigation to homicide detectives with IHIT, who will be providing further updates.
