No injuries suffered in New Year’s Eve fire in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack family was flushed from their home by a fire Sunday (Dec. 31) night. Members of the Chilliwack Fire Department were called to a home in the 8200 block of Annis Road around 7:10 p.m. They arrived to find a fire on the back porch of the home.
Bystanders were using garden hoses to fight the fire when 25 firefighters from Halls 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 arrived. Through the collective work of bystanders and fire fighters, the flames were quickly fought back.
Fire damage was limited to the exterior of the building although the interior of the home received some smoke damage.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined but in a news release, fire officials believe the blaze was accidental.
