Suspect in Amber Alert arrested in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — Police have taken a 28-year-old man into custody in Chilliwack and cancelled the Amber Alert issued following the disappearance of a two-month-old baby girl from a Surrey home Saturday (Dec. 9).

The Amber Alert was issued at 12:27 p.m. when police said the baby was kidnapped. The alert was ended within one hour when the suspect was spotted and arrested in Chilliwack. “Police immediately began receiving tips and that is what led us to being able to quickly and safely locate the infant,” said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Vanessa Munn.

Authorities say the infant was safely recovered. The name of the suspect is not being published to protect the identity of the child.
