Atmospheric River
New week begins with rainfall warning – Chilliwack, Abbotsford and rest of Fraser Valley
Dec 4, 2023 | 6:03 AM
CHILLIWACK — Environment Canada is predicting up to 70 mm of rain to fall over the Fraser Valley and sections of the B.C. Lower Mainland over the next 24 hours.
It has issued a rainfall warning from the Fraser Valley, Vancouver, Whistler and eastern sections of Vancouver Island.
It says an atmospheric river is making landfall Monday morning and will bring very heavy rainfall with it. It warns the storm will increase the risk of flooding and even landslides in some areas. Motorists are warned to be prepared to deal with water pooling on some roads.
The rain is expected to ease by Tuesday morning.
