Voting day in District of Hope by-election

Nov 25, 2023 | 6:00 AM

HOPE — Voters in the Hope will go to the polls today (Nov. 25) to determine a sixth councillor for the community. The by-election was made necessary when Crystal Sedore resigned from the position in August.

Four candidates are in the running for the one position. Bonny Graham, Arthur Green, Dusty Smith and Hondo Stroyan have put their names forward. Only Stroyan ran in the October 2022 election, finishing seventh in the election.

Chief Election officer Branden Morgan says nearly 300 people took advantage of advance polls that were staged on November 15 and November 18.

Ballots can be cast at the District of Hope Municipal office at 325 Wallace Street. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters will be expected to produce two pieces of identification including at least one with a signature. Voter eligibility rules are outlined on the District of Hope’s by-election website.
