ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Foundation (APF) celebrated a record-breaking success during its 9th annual Crime is Toast – Breakfast with the Chief fundraiser held at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre on October 25. The event was met with overwhelming community support, welcoming a full house and raising over $30,000 to back various Abbotsford Police Department initiatives.

One of the highlights of the fundraiser was the ‘AbbyPD experience’ segment during the live auction, which drew an impressive $4,000 in donations. These funds will be instrumental in supporting what Inspector Casey Vinet referred to as “the extras” that are not covered by the annual police budget.

The APF’s roster of initiatives includes the PADS therapy dog program with Cheddar, the K9 retirement program, the ‘With a good heart’ Pow Wow, AbbyPD Movie Night in the Park, AbbyPD City Basketball, BC Law Enforcement Ride to Remember, ‘it’s a NO!’ campaign to educate children and parents about staying safe online, the AbbyPD mentoring program, and many more projects aimed at enhancing community safety.

The APF expressed deep gratitude to its sponsors, including Abby Bike Shop and Canadian Tire, along with the attendees who demonstrated their commitment to a safer community.

Mayor Ross Siemens, who chairs the Abbotsford Police Board, took the opportunity to honour retiring Chief Mike Serr and welcome Chief Designate Colin Watson.

APF President Sandy Blue highlighted the organization’s mission, saying, “Our goal is to connect Police with Community, build positive relationships, and fund engaging AbbyPD initiatives. This annual event accomplishes all three, and we’re so grateful for the generosity of our community in supporting our mission of making Abbotsford ‘the Safest City in BC’.”
