Chilliwack Chiefs unable to recover from slow start against Trail

CHILLIWACK — The Trail Smoke Eaters scored the first five goals of the game and then hung on to defeat the Chilliwack Chiefs 5 – 4 in BCHL action Saturday (Nov. 4) night in Chilliwack.

Trail’s Ridge Dawson opened the scoring at the 13:33 mark of the first period with his eighth goal of the season. The Smoke Eaters added two more before the period was out and then scored another pair in the first seven minutes of the second period.

Matt Argentina finally put the Chiefs on the board at 11:31 of the second period with his second of the season.

The Chiefs looked like a different team in the third. Hunter McInnes scored at 1:10. Brady Milburn cut the lead to 5 – 3 at 3:18. Then Milburn added his second of the game at 16:36 to set up a furious ending. However netminder Ryan Parker was able to slam the door shut the rest of the way to seal the victory for Trail. Austin McNicholas suffered the loss in the Chiefs net.
