Move to Standard time

Fraser Valley residents reminded to change their clocks tonight

CHILLIWACK — Most Canadians will be turning their clocks back by an hour early Sunday morning.

Daylight time, which allows people to enjoy an extra hour of daylight at the end of the day, ends Sunday morning and transitions to standard time in most provinces and territories.

The change means darkness will arrive earlier in the evening, but it will be lighter earlier in the morning except for in parts of B.C., Yukon and most of Saskatchewan, where clocks stay put year-round.

Authorities across B.C. are asking those who use the roads, to be extra careful as the human body adjusts to the time change. North American studies have shown the number of fatal car accidents drastically increase on the Monday following the change in time. The number of accidents involving pedestrians also increased by a significant percentage during the same time.
