CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack RCMP member Constable Marie-Michelle Page recently returned from the fifth annual British Columbia Law Enforcement Memorial (BCLEM) Ride to Remember. This somber cycling event took place from September 21 to 24, honouring the memory of fallen officers while raising awareness of their sacrifices.

The BCLEM Ride to Remember began in Burnaby and concluded in Victoria, where the BCLEM itself was held at the British Columbia Legislature Bastion. The 385-kilometer started in Burnaby to recognize Constable Shaelyn Yang, who lost her life on duty on October 19, 2022.

The event holds even greater significance as it coincides with the National Police and Peace Officer’s Memorial in Ottawa.

Constable Page has cycled alongside law enforcement officers from diverse agencies for the past four years in the ride. “Participating in the BCLEM Ride to Remember is an honour and a way for me to pay my respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, especially considering all of those who paid with their lives over the last year in our country,” said Constable Page. “The tragic news of Constable O’Brien who was fatally shot in Coquitlam while on duty, pushed us to keep going, to remember the fallen.
