Street art unveiled in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside
Oct 15, 2023 | 1:30 PM
VANCOUVER — A sculpture by French artist Bernar Venet has become the first Vancouver Biennale art installation in the Downtown Eastside’s Strathcona neighbourhood.
Vancouver Biennale founder and artistic director Barrie Mowatt says art in unexpected places can be a key contributor to transforming neighbourhoods.
Venet is one of only five contemporary artists honoured with a solo exhibition at France’s Palace of Versailles in 2011.
The sculpture will be located outside the offices of Vancouver’s Creative Cultural Collaborations Society offices on East Georgia Street.
