VANCOUVER — Several evacuation orders and alerts have been lifted in B-C as crews take advantage of recent rainfall.

The Regional District of East Kootenay in the southeast corner of the province has rescinded evacuation alerts for 667 dwellings that had previously been threatened by the St. Mary’s River Fire.

The blaze is currently listed as 46 square kilometres in size on the B-C Wildfire Service website, but the district says it is being held by firefighters.

Other orders and alerts were also rescinded yesterday for those affected by the Tintagel fire just west of Burns Lake, Parrot Lookout fire south of Burns Lake and the Pinkut Creek fire on the south side of Babine Lake.
