Busted pickup truck and driver misconduct lead to $1,771 in fines from Abbotsford Police
ABBOTSFORD — The fines might be worth more than the actual vehicle.
A BC motorist found out the hard way this week that driving an inoperable vehicle is bound to catch the watchful attention of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Abbotsford Police Department.
In a Facebook post, Abbotsford Police say they observed a red GMC 1500 pickup operating in the McCallum Road and King Road area with multiple, obvious defects on Tuesday, July 11 at approximately 2 p.m. Police suspected the vehicle posed a risk to the driver and nearby motorists.
Police initiated a traffic stop and learned the driver had an expired license, an uninsured vehicle, and an addressed notice and order regarding several defects. Officers towed the vehicle and issued driver violation tickets amounting to $1,771 in fines. Offences consisted of no driver’s license, no insurance, failure to comply with an order, misuse of license plates, a windshield that impaired vision, and a defective vehicle.
