CHENEY, WASHINGTON — Under new head coach Ryk Piche, the opportunity for the G.W. Graham football team to learn from some Division 1 coaches and players was just too good to pass up.

Thirty players from the Grizzlies headed down to Cheney, Washington last week for a football camp at Eastern Washington University, a Div. 1 school. Players spent four days and three nights at EWU dorms alongside 16 teams from Alaska, B.C., Idaho, Washington and Oregon.

In a statement from assistant coach Ian Parks, this development camp highlighted players from across the Pacific Northwest at all positions, and B.C. Provincial All-Star running back Yapo Conteh won the RB MVP award among 900 athletes at the camp.

Standout and Team B.C. quarterback Aiden Hewitt threw 11 touchdowns throughout three days, and ran one in as well when he led his team at the Friday Night Lights event to an overtime win in the first round with a gutsy run up the middle against Clarkston.

B.C. Provincial All-Star Carter Dallas had nine touchdowns, including seven from Aiden Hewitt and two from Rylan Parks, to lead all receivers on the week.

Coaches were impressed with Dallas’ ability to find open space on the field, and his sixth gear once he had the ball in his possession, Parks said.
