Fowler beats Abbotsford’s Hadwin and one other in playoff at PGA Tour event

DETROIT — Rickie Fowler returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in four years, defeating Abbotsford’s Adam Hadwin and Collin Morikawa on the first playoff hole at the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit Sunday.

Fowler made a clutch birdie on the 72nd hole to finish at 24 under par in the tournament and a tie with Hadwin and Morikawa.

Hadwin started the final round one shot behind Fowler. He fired a five-under-par 67 to earn his way into the playoff.
