Hope RCMP investigating damage to Pride flag in the community

HOPE — RCMP investigators are looking into a disturbing attack on the Pride community in Hope.

In a news release, RCMP say officers were called out to a 3 a.m. fire Thursday (Jun. 8) at a building on Wallace Avenue. Someone had broken the glass in the front window of the building and attempted to light a Pride flag on fire.

With the assistance of firefighters, the fire was quickly doused, limiting the damage to the building.

The incident comes on the heels of another incident in which the Pride crosswalk in front of the building, was defaced with homophobic slurs.
