Uber to debut Tuesday in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — In the midst of a transit strike that has lasted nearly three months and the B.C. government’s inability to resolve the ongoing labour impasse between First Transit and CUPE 561 bus drivers, the arrival of Uber in Chilliwack couldn’t have come at a better time.
The Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce announced on its Facebook page late Monday afternoon (June 5) that the Uber driving service will make its debut on Tuesday, June 6 in Chilliwack.
“Tomorrow’s launch is a testament to the hard work, collaborative efforts and support received from stakeholders!” Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce wrote on Facebook. “Chilliwack has had many user groups and community partners advocating for this for some time now and to see it come to reality is exciting!”
Uber is requesting patience as the need for drivers will be in high demand. Interested drivers can apply to be a driver at drivers.Uber.com.
