Chilliwack RCMP investigating suspicious fire on Vedder Mountain FSR

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack RCMP and Cultus Lake Fire personnel responded to a fire early Sunday morning (May 7) in which a vehicle burned near the intersection of Vedder Mountain Forest Service Road and Parmenter Road.

According to Chilliwack RCMP Sgt. Krista Vrolyk, RCMP responded to Parmenter Road/Cardinal Court and Vedder Mountain Forest Service Road at about 12:45 a.m. early Sunday morning.

On arrival, first responders discovered a fully engulfed vehicle.

“We did respond to the fire and that’s under investigation,” Sgt. Vrolyk said. “Our investigation continues into that fire.”

Fire personnel cleared the scene at 1:42 a.m. Sunday morning, but RCMP remained on scene. RCMP responded later in the morning to further investigate.

No one was in the vehicle at the time of the fire.

Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 and reference file 2023-17413, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
