At least six fires break out in Chilliwack Saturday, including suspicious vehicle fire
CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack firefighters responded to at least six fires on Saturday, April 15, as fire crews were deployed for an assortment of fires and scenarios over the weekend.
Of the six fires, Chilliwack Fire Department responded to five of the six while the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Saturday night that appears to be suspicious in nature.
Chilliwack firefighters responded to a trailer fire at a homeless encampment early Saturday morning, before being dispatched to a garage fire in the 5500 block of Alpine Crescent at 4:12 p.m. Saturday. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries associated with those incidents.
But the evening was just getting started for Chilliwack firefighters. Chilliwack crews were deployed to a home on Ledgestone Place in Eastern Hillsides at 5:47 p.m. in which an occupant of the home improperly disposed of hot briquettes into a plastic recycling container, according to Michael Bourdon, assistant fire chief for Chilliwack Fire Department. There was fire damage to a fabric cover, along with a cracked window pane on the house.
