B.C. Conservatives select new candidate for Abbotsford-Mission riding, not former MLA who resigned

ABBOTSFORD-MISSION – Reann Gasper will not be the B.C. Conservative Party candidate in Abbotsford-Mission, a riding she won two years ago, in next month’s provincial election.

Instead, business leader Daryl Kropp will be the Conservative Party of BC candidate in Abbotsford-Mission, the Conservative Party announced Saturday afternoon.

According to a bio from the B.C. Conservative Party, Kropp has lived in Abbotsford for more than 25 years. Over more than two decades, Darryl has led major technology and organizational transformation initiatives in utilities, aerospace, and human services.

At Cascade Aerospace in Abbotsford, he built the lean management system that transformed company operations. Today, he leads and oversees large-scale human services implementations at RedMane Technology and has helped build child welfare systems for Indigenous communities across Canada.

Kropp brings a wealth of governance and financial oversight experience. In 2018, members elected him to the board of First West Credit Union (Envision Financial), where he helped oversee one of British Columbia’s largest financial cooperatives, with more than $20 billion in assets. During his tenure, he chaired the Governance and Nominations Committee, served as vice-chair of the Risk, Investment and Loan Committee, and helped guide First West through its transition to Tru Cooperative Bank.

He holds the ICD.D designation from the Rotman School of Management, where he was class valedictorian, and is a certified Lean Black Belt and Project Management Professional (PMP). His track record is built on fiscal responsibility, effective governance, and getting meaningful results for the people he serves.

He has been married to his wife for 30 years. Together, they have raised their three children in the Fraser Valley.

Kropp’s selection means Gasper will not be the party’s preferred candidate in the riding. Gasper won the Abbotsford-Mission riding in the October 2024 election.

Gasper received 13,523 votes, or 55.4 per cent, versus former NDP MLA Pam Alexis, who received 10,893 votes.
