New EV charging site opens near Abbotsford International Airport

ABBOTSFORD — Drivers looking to power their electric vehicles may now have one more spot they can pull over to while driving through the Fraser Valley.

BC Hydro is opening a new EV fast-charge site at 1567 Mount Lehman Road, near Abbotsford International Airport, with two 400-kilowatt chargers that add about 100 kilometres of driving range to an average EV in about three minutes.

The space also has one 180-kilowatt fast charger.

“Through power-sharing technology, each unit can serve two vehicles at once by splitting output,” explained BC Hydro. For example, a 400-kilowatt charger can supply two vehicles with 200 kilowatts each. This allows up to six EVs to use these three chargers at once.”
