Police say Hwy. 1 w/b through Burnaby will be closed for several hours due to serious crash

BURNABY – Police in Burnaby are urging motorists travelling toward Vancouver to avoid Highway 1 westbound at Kensington Avenue Wednesday morning due to a serious collision, estimating the highway could be closed for several hours and possibly into the afternoon.

Burnaby RCMP spokesperson Corporal Mike Kalanj wrote in a statement at 6:21 a.m. Wednesday morning that Highway 1 is closed westbound between Kensington Avenue and Sprott Street in Burnaby.

Traffic is being directed off Hwy. 1 at Kensington Avenue and back onto Hwy. 1 via Sprott Street.

Additionally, the Hwy. 1 westbound on ramp from Kensington is also closed. Motorists cannot access Hwy 1 westbound from Kensington Avenue.
