Ball players from Abbotsford, Langley teams join 12th annual Blue Jays prospect showcase
VANCOUVER — Seven top players from Fraser Valley-area baseball teams have been invited to this week’s Canadian Futures Showcase hosted by the Blue Jays Baseball Academy.
The 12th annual event will bring 150 amateur ballplayers from across the country to MLB scouts and college recruiters from Thursday, September 17 to Sunday, September 20.
Among those draft- and college-eligible players are the Abbotsford Cardinals’ Ryder Giesbrecht and Jake Carriere, as well as Harlan Chervatin, Evan Maloney, Marshall Moore and Devon Simonovic from the Langley Blaze.
Maple Ridge-born Oscar Leah, who is committed to Kansas State University and is a member of the Canadian Junior National Team, will also be on the mound.
