Swankey seeks reelection in Chilliwack School District leadership race

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack School District trustee David Swankey is going for a hat trick of service terms in this upcoming fall election.

Swankey, who has served SD33 since 2018, has launched his re-election bid Saturday (Sept. 12).

“Four years ago I committed to focus on student well-being and student success while modelling kindness and collaboration at the board table,” said Swankey. “I’m asking to serve again, confident I’ve kept that promise at every step over this term.”

His four key priorities are supporting safe and inclusive schools, prioritizing student achievement and success, investing in targeted and timely intervention, and maintaining a fiscally responsible approach.

“We need to maintain strong leadership and good governance practices over the next term,” Swankey added. “I’m seeking to bring these four priorities forward to compliment the work of the district, while recognizing I’m just one of seven trustees at that board table.”

Outside the local school district, Swankey also serves on the provincial table as a member of the BC School Trustees Association’s Board of Directors, as well as vice chair of the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre and director with the BC Association for Child Development and Intervention.

“I care deeply about the well-being of public education in Chilliwack and I’m passionate about this work. I’m asking for your trust to bring that passion and experience to the table to serve another term.”
