Local philanthropist throws hat into the Chilliwack local election ring
CHILLIWACK — A local surgeon and philanthropist has announced his candidacy for the upcoming general election in Chilliwack.
Zeeshan Khan announced Friday (Sept. 11) that he will run for city council, citing his “years of experience” in healthcare, education, social services and community service as the foundation for his new leadership goals.
“I believe in servant leadership style and practice listening, caring, and working alongside our community,” said Khan. “[A] City Councillor should be a bridge between the community and City Hall especially for those who may find it difficult to have their voices heard.”
He says he has spent more than a decade serving alongside the community through food security, seniors’ projects, homelessness support, substance-use recovery and community-building initiatives.
