Highway 1 on-ramp in Abbotsford slated for removal this week
ABBOTSFORD – Motorists should expect what the province calls a “major” traffic-pattern change at the Highway 11 and Highway 1 interchange in Abbotsford starting potentially as early as tomorrow.
In a statement, the B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Transit says the existing loop ramp from Highway 11 northbound onto Highway 1 westbound will be permanently closed effective Thursday, Sept. 10.
The province says the traffic-pattern changes are necessary to allow contracted crews to safely undertake construction and demolition activities as part of the Highway 11 Interchange Project, an essential component of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program.
The on-ramp from Highway 11 to Highway 1 will be replaced as part of the future interchange improvements.
