Traffic detour underway for evening, overnight travel on w/b Highway 1
ABBOTSFORD – Evening and overnight traffic-pattern changes are now underway for motorists driving westbound on Highway 1 through Abbotsford.
The Ministry of Transportation and Transit says a detour at the Mount Lehman exit is now in effect on multiple nights between August 31 and September 11, from 8:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 8:30 p.m. until 7 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
As work progresses to widen Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley, the province says the detour is essential to allow contracting crews to safely install girders for the expanded Mount Lehman overpass.
The ministry says the overpass improvements are a key component of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program, aimed at improving safety, reducing congestion and providing reliable travel for people.
